Who we are

The Split Shift is an independent online publication exploring the issues that shape women's lives at work and at home. Covering careers, parenting, health, leadership, neurodiversity, psychology, workplace culture and technology, the magazine aims to provide thoughtful journalism, fresh perspectives and practical insights for all women navigating an increasingly complex world.

Editor-in-chief: Lydia Smith (Antonik-Yates)

Lydia is a freelance journalist with more than 15 years’ experience. She has bylines in Yahoo Finance, the Guardian, the Telegraph, the Independent, Newsweek, Lancet Psychiatry, Patient, New Statesman, Happiful, Live Science, Stylist, i paper, HuffPost, Quartz and others. She is a mother of two and is currently studying to become a psychologist.

Managing editor: Amberley Davis

Amberley has experience in health journalism, digital publishing and editorial strategy. Her work has focused on translating research into human stories, with bylines at Patient, where she contributed features that explored the gender health gap and under-researched women’s health issues, including work that was featured in the ITV documentary Hannah Spearritt: Me & Breast Implants.
